1. When you go to Wal-mart, what one thing do you get every single time?
It used to be a Twix bar.  I love Twix.  I haven’t been there lately because we are mainly buying fresh fruits and vegetables, and I don’t buy those at Wal-mart.  I do always get cash back at the register.  Then I don’t have to go to the ATM.
2. What is something that people are currently "into" that you just don't get or appreciate?
I don’t get the giant funky jewelry.  The giant beads on the watch bands and bracelets.  How do they get anything done with those weighing their arms down?
3. What is something that really hoists your sail that other people might feel "ho-hum" about?
I love blogging.  I have always written in my journal, but I am writing things on my blog that I haven’t written in my journal.  For instance, my post on how much I love office supplies.  I have always felt that way, but I never wrote about it.  So it’s been fun to document more about myself.  And my blog is more about me than my kids.  I feel bad sometimes because my husband won’t read it.  But I have to remember that I am blogging for me, not him.
4. Favorite song to sing in the shower?
“Hum Your Favorite Hymn”
“If on occasion you have found, your language is in question,
And ugly thoughts are in your mind, then here’s a good suggestion:
Just hum your favorite hymn, sing out with vigor and vim,
And you will find it clears your mind,Hum your favorite hymn.
Before you say an angry word, remember you’ll regret it.
For once it’s said, the harm is done, and some folks won’t forget it.
Just hum your favorite hymn, sing out with vigor and vim,
And you will find it clears your mind, Hum your favorite hymn.”
5. A really great salad must have this ingredient:
Chopped hard-boiled eggs.  I love them on salads!
6. Advice in a nutshell to new bloggers (one or two sentences):
Be yourself.  This is your blog.  Don’t write for anyone else but you.
7. What was the alternate name that your parents almost named you? Do you wish they had chosen it instead of the one they gave you?
I don’t think they had any alternates.  I have never asked.
8. What in your life are you waiting for?
I am trying not to wait for things, to just enjoy the moment.  However, I am waiting for June so we can go to Disneyland!
9. You get a package in the mail. What is it, and who is it from?
My new camcorder that I ordered from Amazon.com!
10. Today--what song represents you?
I couldn’t think of a song, so I asked my hubby.  He suggested “The Climb” which is sung by Miley Cyrus.  I cannot stand her, and I have switched the radio channel every time this song comes on.  He told me to read the lyrics and I started crying.  This is exactly how I am feeling right now.
I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"
Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking
But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb
The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking
I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going
And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on
'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody's gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!
Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa
11. What is one thing that blogging has taught you about yourself?
That I am pretty funny, and I write pretty well.  I have always enjoyed writing, just not for a grade.
12. How are you going to (or how did you) choose the clothes you're wearing today? What do they say about you in general or specifically how you're feeling today?
I bought some new shirts last week that are a smaller size.  I put one on today, and I feel so skinny in it, because it doesn’t feel (or look) like a tent.  And of course it’s pink!  I love wearing pink.  I feel so feminine in it.
4 Jobs I have had:
  1. Stay-at-Home-Mom. This was the hardest job, the most unappreciated, but the most rewarding.

4. What was the last thing that you ate? I have been snacking on Dots while working. I like to eat all the green, yellow, and orange ones first, so I can then enjoy the red and pink ones. They are my favorite.

6. Last person you spoke to on the phone? My sister. She is buying CurlFormers for her hair. I need to try them on mine.

8. How old are you today? 36 and feeling much older.
9. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV? Reality TV. That's a sport, right? Otherwise, we watch the SuperBowl (but only for the commercials) and sometimes the BYU vs. UofU game (I bleed blue!), but that's about it!
10. What is your favorite drink? Strawberry Lemonade with real strawberries in it. Not the fake syrup flavored stuff.
11. Have you ever dyed your hair? I started dying my hair when I was pregnant with The Artist and I will dye until I die!
12. Favorite food? Meat and potatoes. I love Texas Roadhouse!
13. What is the last movie you watched? I listen to a lot of movies (in the car while I am driving my kids around!). So that would have to be "Quest for Camelot." The last movie I actually watched would be "Guys and Dolls." The Teenager was trying out for it and wanted to know the story.
14. Favorite day of the year? Mother's Day. I get presents and I don't have to cook!
15. How do you vent anger? I am a yeller. Ask my kids. I really need to stop.
16. What was your favorite toy as a child? I love my dollies. And now The Princess is enjoying my old dolls too. I love seeing her take care of them!
17. What is your favorite season? Spring...because it means warmer weather is coming!
18. Cherries or blueberries? I love eating cherry and after cherry. I just don't like the after effects!
19. Living arrangements? House in the suburbs that we have grown out of. Seriously. We need more room, but there is no way I would try and sell my house right now. There are already over 10 houses for sale on my street alone!
20. When was the last time you cried? Tears running down cheeks, or sobbing? Both in the last week! LOL I am a very emotional person.
21. What is on the floor of your closet? Christmas presents. I hide them there. And I buy all year long, so there is always stuff stashed there.

23. What are you most afraid of? Getting a chronic illness.

28. Diamonds or pearls? Diamonds, but only if they're fake. Real ones are too expensive, and who really cares? Fake ones are just as pretty!

  • "Sweetest Days" by Vanessa Williams
  • "I Hope You Dance" by LeAnn Womack
  • "Men" by The Forrester Sisters
  • Anything by Donny Osmond
  • All Primary Children songs
31. What is your pet peeve? Again, too many to list, so I am not going to list them, in case I offend someone! I don't want people to get paranoid around me! I am just too OCD and things bug me. But I am learning to get it go!
Well, there you go. Now you know way to much about me!

What are your middle names?
The Doctor's is James and I don't have one. I hated that growing up. I was so excited to get married so I could use my maiden name as a middle name. Lame, I know.
How long have you been together?
17 years and 7 months.
How long did you know each other before you started dating?
About 1 1/2 months.
Who asked whom out?
I asked him out to the girls' choice formal in October 1991. I got sick during supper and spent the evening throwing up in the bathroom at the dance. We couldn't leave because he had been asked to give the closing prayer. I know, I know, he could have asked someone else to fill in, but that's not how he thought.
How old are each of you?
I am 36, and The Doctor turns 40 in 3 weeks.
Whose siblings do you see the most?
Mine. The Doctor's family all lives out of state except one, and my family all live here in the valley.
Which situation is hardest on you as a couple?
Money. We are a lot alike, so when we get stressed, we spend and use the credit cards. So then we get more in debt and that stresses us out more.
Did you go to the same school?
Um, the same colleges!
Are you from the same home town?
Nope. He is from small town Idaho, and I lived in 4 different cities in 9 different houses.
Who is smarter?
Wow. Nothing loaded about that question. When we were first married, I would have said I was, but I later learned that he didn't have good grades because school wasn't emphasized in his house. He is extremely smart in different ways than I am. I would say we are equals.
Who is the most sensitive?
Again, I would say we are both equal. He has a very tender heart and I love him for that.
Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Texas Roadhouse and Applebee's.
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
We went to Kansas City a few years ago for a drafting competition. His student took 2nd in the nation and we got a week's vacation without any kids! It was great.
Who has the craziest exes?
Neither. We haven't seen or heard from any since we got married.
Who has the worst temper?
Me. Definitely me.
Who does the cooking?
I do most, but he is amazing in the kitchen. He can get in the fridge and make a delicious meal with anything he finds in there.
Who is the neat-freak?
LMBO Definitely me!
Who is most stubborn?
I would have to say we are equal here as well.
Who hogs the bed?
We have a king-size bed, and so we pretty much stay to our own sides. I love it. Now, if you want to talk about hogging the blankets...
Who wakes up earlier?
He does on weekdays because he leaves for work at 6 a.m. I do on the weekends and I let him sleep in.
Where was your first date?
The girls' choice dance I mentioned earlier.
Who is more jealous?
Neither.
How long did it take to get serious?
Well, we were engaged 3 1/2 weeks after our first date, so it didn't take very long!
Who does the laundry?
Me. He's not allowed to touch it anymore because he keeps shrinking my shirts!
Who's better with the computer?
Again, I would say we are pretty equal.
Who usually drives when you're together?
He does. He just naturally gets in the drivers seat. Most of the time I like that, but sometimes I want to drive. All I have to do is say something and he will move and let me drive. He is sweet that way.
  • You are driving down the road and there is a puddle in the road. A big puddle. Not one that will really wreck your car or anything, but a big puddle. There is no other cars in front of you or behind you - do you drive through the puddle or drive around it? Right through it! I would do it even if there were other cars around. I love driving through puddles and seeing the splash!

  • Go to Google Images, type in any word that comes to mind and post the 1st picture you see.

The Doctor is watching "Justice League" so I thought I would what pictures of Supergirl there would be. And look at how buff they all are! Goodness, none of these girls have ever had a baby, that's for sure!

  • A college calls you up and says that you have been selected to take get any degree that you want on their dollar…. what do you choose? Photography. I think. I only want to be a mom, and I already have my B.S. in Accounting. I can't think of anything else.

  • Are you blogging on a laptop or desktop? A desktop.

  • Which store, excluding a grocery store, do you shop at most often? Wal-mart, hands down. I love that store.

  • My daughters tried out for the school musical last night. Were you ever in a school play/musical? Which one? I was in "Guys and Dolls" when I was in 9th grade. I was a hot box dancer. Ooh, laa laa! It was fun! My best friend was Adelaide and she had an amazing voice!

  • I read yesterday that a school PTA group wants to try to ban white bread, cakes, brownies or any other “treat” from their lunch menus… plus make kids’ lunchboxes brought from home not include any “junk food”. Thoughts on that one? Try it on me. Just see what I can do. You can't dictate what I feed my children. Feel free to ban it from your menu, but don't ban it from mine. I tried that once, remember?

  • How many people can your kitchen table seat? 6. And we are pushing the limits of our dining area. A 4-seat table would work better, but how would I choose who doesn't get to eat?

  • What time is it right now? 9:22 p.m.

  • Walk out the front door of your house/apartment, turn right, walk 2 blocks. What do you see? Houses, houses, and more houses!
  • I am loving meme's right now. Why? Because I don't have to think. I can just fill in the answers! I know, it's a cop out. But I love to read them, so you have to read mine!
However, I was looking in my drafts and found this one from the week after Valentine's Day. And it was completely done! I don't know why I didn't post it! I am not changing the answers, so enjoy!
    1. What were you doing and who were you with at 9:59 PM on Friday night? Wow, that was 6 days ago. Oh yeah, we had gone out to dinner for Valentine's Day (we avoid the actual day because it's way to crazy) and then we went to Walmart and did some shopping. So that is where we were.
    2. What’s the last thing you read/are currently reading? I'm trying to read The BFG by Roald Dahl, but I am having a hard time getting into it. But I will keep going because that is what I tell my kids to do!
    3. Do you nap a lot? Do you know me? Have you been reading my blog? LOL
    4. Who was the last person you hugged? The Princess. I love her hugs!
    5. What’s your current obsession/addiction? I am sewing some rag quilts for "some people in the ward." I am almost done sewing the last one, and then I have to clip them all. Feel free to come over and help me!
    6. What was the last thing you said out loud? I called a friend to sympathize with her because her son has been decorating with poop!
    7. What websites do you always visit when you go online? My home page is the news website so I look to see if anything interesting has happened, then I log onto my blog so I am signed in, then I go to Google Reader to see who has updated their blogs. I currently subscribe to 90 blogs!
    8. What was the last item you bought? I bought groceries today while The Princess was at preschool. Good times.
    9. What is your most challenging goal? To get out of debt. We were doing okay, then The Doctor needed 2 root canals and we both needed caps. so that all is going on the credit card.
    10. If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished- anywhere in the world, where would it be? Somewhere rich people live so I could see it at a really high price, come back here and buy a modest house and use the rest of the money to pay off our student loans!
    11. Favorite Vacation spot? Anywhere. I would love to have the money to be able to take vacations. Just not camping!
    12. What is your favorite beverage? I love the slushies from Sonic.
    13. Name one thing you just can’t resist no matter how bad it is for you? Cheetos. I love Cheetos.
    14. What is your favorite item of clothing? I love sweaters. They are so cuddly!
    15. Favorite pair of shoes you keep going back to over and over, even though your closet is over flowing with a zillion others?! Flip flops. I love them. However, Old Navy's flip flops last year were really bad. They were too narrow and dug into my instep. And I hated the texture. I hope they change them back!
    16. Name one thing you can not live with out. Besides the obvious (family, church, etc.), I would have to say my cell phone. There is an absolute comfort knowing I have it. If my car breaks down, I run out of gas, my kids need to reach me, etc. We got our first cell phones after we were traveling from Challis, Idaho back home and our alternator went out and we sat on the side of the road for 2 hours before someone stopped to help us. I swore then that I would never be that vulnerable again.
    17. Has a celebrity’s haircut ever influence you on your own hairstyle? Nope. I pay no attention to what they are wearing or anything.
    18. What is your favorite Disney Movie? The Little Mermaid. I love it. It came out just before my birthday when I was a sophomore in high school and my friends came and kidnapped me from our ward Christmas party and blindfolded me and took me to see it. My boyfriend at the time was ticked because he had wanted to take me to see it. So you can see how it brings back lots and lots of memories!
I snagged this meme from Jean @ Working Momma 247. It’s one of those ipod shuffle memes where you shuffle for a song title to be the answer for each question. Except this one is all parenting related, which makes it cute, fun and different. I don't have an ipod shuffle, so I just used my Windows Media player.

    Not eyes, just eye.
I hate wishing it would frost, but that is the only thing now that will relieve me.
    Anywho...
I found this meme and thought I would pass it along.
    1. Where do you fold your laundry? I fold each batch on my family room couch right after it comes out of the dryer. That way, it's just a little at a time. The boys have to do their own socks and underwear, and the person who has bathrooms duty that week has to fold the towels. They also have to put away their own clothes, which often leads to them doing their own laundry because if they don't put they away, I won't do their laundry for 2 weeks. Which then leads to this:

    2. Must you be sure the dishes are washed before you go to bed each night? I used to, but I am learning to be more relaxed. If I have to do the dishes, it's because one of the children didn't do their chores. I will help out if they had activities, but if they goofed off, the dishes will be there in the morning for them, only the food will be crusted on!
    3. Do you used caller i.d. to screen your calls? Every time. I love it so I don't have to answer telemarketing calls. I get fewer and fewer of those every day.
    4. Do you let the low fuel light come on in your car before you fill up? Never. I try to fill when it gets to the halfway mark. That way I don't feel like I spent quite so much on gas! Plus, the needle goes down faster once it hits halfway.
    5. Are you a registered voter? Yep. But the best part is, The Doctor and I signed up for them to send us absentee ballots every election. So I don't have to even go to vote. They mail them to us a couple weeks ahead, we vote and mail them back. It's lovely!
    6. Breakfast for dinner is one thing, but can you eat dinner for breakfast? Absolutely! I love eating leftovers for breakfast. Macaroni and Tomatoes, casseroles, mashed potatoes...bring it on!
    7. Do you click on the ads you see on people’s blogs? Nope.
    8. Do you just want to yell at smokers who are clearly standing within 50ft of the door at a restaurant? Yes! I hate that I have to walk through their pollution to get into a building. I hate smoking.
    9. What did you have for breakfast today? Well, it's Tuesday, so we were supposed to have oatmeal, but when I was cooking it, I found 4-5 little dead weevil body's! Ewwww! So I dumped it and we had Wednesday for breakfast...egg sandwiches. The kids did not complain!
    10. What about your life today would surprise your teenage self? That I am working. All my life, all I ever wanted to be was a mom. I just wish I could have had a few more years to be with The Princess before I had to start working, but we can't have everything.
So, Amy over at Mama Nirvana started a meme and tagged anyone who wanted to participate. I hate doing these for myself, but I love reading them about others. So I guess if I want you to do it, I have to do it first!

    Here goes!

    1. Besides your family, what is your most prized possession? My scrapbooks, because they are about my family. And my camera because it takes pictures of my family. Oh, and my computer because it stores the pictures taken by my camera to be someday put in my scrapbooks about my family!

    2. If you were on death row, what would your last meal be? Hmmm, I would probably ask my mom to make her pork chops with mushroom soup gravy.

    3. At a party, would you be hiding in the corner or hanging out at the punch bowl talking it up? And, what food item would your bring to the party? Definitely in the corner, wishing desperately that I was outgoing enough to talk to people. I can't carry on a conversation. I am a great listener, but I can never think of things to say. And I probably would have brought some kind of salad, either green or Jello.

    4. What is the most "girly" thing about you? Probably the fact that I adore the color pink! It is my all time favorite color, and I seriously can't get enough of it! Even when The Princess is wearing some other color, I am wishing she were wearing pink.

    5. What is your favorite piece of furniture in your home? My computer chair. Before it came along, I was using a folding chair and my back would hurt so bad after working for several hours. But for my birthday last year, The Doctor bought me an actual office chair, which he found on clearance for $40. It has absolutely saved me!

    6. What is most likely to be painted -- your toes or your fingers? My toes. My fingernails are too soft and fingernail polish just peels right off them. I have given up. It's not worth it.

    7. If I was going to buy you a bottle of Bath and Bodyworks lotion, what scent would you want? Either Strawberry Lemonade, or Sunripened Raspberry. I love fruity scents, not too hip on the florals.

    8. Do you like to nap? If so, how often do you get to during the week? LOL Do I like to nap? Refer here!

    9. Do you have a place in your house where you "hide"? A place where you can have a long phone conversation with a friend without interruption? Where is your quiet place? Yes, my scrapbook room. I love to go in there and shut the door and shut out life. I only wish it were big enough for a soft, comfy chair. Then it would be perfect.

    10. At this point in your life, are you living the life you imagined back when you were in high school/college? LOL Not even close. I have said it before, I never would have dreamed that The Doctor would be in school for 16 years. Nor would I be working. Nor would there be 6 years between The Chocoholic and The Princess. I could go on and on!

    11. Would you ever get plastic surgery? What would you have done? Sure! I would love to get a breast lift. Even without nursing, they sag!

    12. What have you accomplished (besides having children) that you feel most proud of? I am very proud of going back to school and earning my Bachelor's degree. I was so proud of myself that I accomplished it.

Okay, so now I want to tag her, and her, and anyone else who wants to participate. Just leave me a comment and tell me you did so I can read up about you too!
What were you doing ten years ago?

Let's see, 1998. In January I went back to school to get my degree in Accounting. In February I went off the pill because it had taken me 9 months to get pregnant the last time. In March I got pregnant. In June I celebrated my 6 year anniversary. In July we went to Sugarhouse Park for the fireworks (for the first and LAST time...1 hour and 15 minutes to get home!). In August we discovered we were having another boy, and we discovered that he had hydronephrosis. Not what I wanted, but I got over it. In September I sent Taylor to school (preschool) for the first time. I bawled! In October we filled our freezer with 267 pounds of beef. In November we signed the papers to buy (build) our first house. In December I had c, our third child. We also lost our house, due to the builders being complete idiots and trying to cheat FHA.

What are 5 things on your to-do list today?

    1. Dig up sod from my parents house.

    2. Lay sod at my house.

    3. Get mulch from dump.

    4. Lay mulch around my garden boxes.

    5. Make bread.

    What are your favorite snacks?

I love Cheetos. Love them. Too much. I also love fresh fruit...more than Cheetos.

Places you have lived...in order, counting all your moves

Provo, Utah; Orem, Utah; Shelley, Idaho; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Great Falls, Montana; Great Falls, Montana; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Idaho Falls, Idaho; Rexburg, Idaho; West Valley City, Utah; West Valley City, Utah; Rexburg, Idaho; West Valley City, Utah; Provo, Utah; Provo, Utah; West Valley City, Utah; West Valley City, Utah; West Valley City, Utah; West Valley City, Utah; Our Current house
And no, those are not repeats. They are all different moves!

Five things you would do if you were a billionaire?

    1. Quit work and scrapbook all the time!
    2. I would pay off all my debts and all my families debts.
    3. I would build the house of my dreams, complete with a family room big enough to have a pool table.
    4. I would enroll my children in swimming lessons, art lessons, soccer, voice lessons. All the things they want to do now, but we can't because we have no money.
    5. Give chunks to my Bishop to give to people when they need help. We have had people anonymously give us money and it just really lifts your spirit when everything seems to be going the wrong way. I would also mail gift cards to people who are struggling, like someone did for us (if it was you, THANK YOU!).

5 people you want to know more about.

    1. I love to hear people's life stories, so anyone in my ward!
    2. Mary
    3. Eve
    4. My Grandma Christensen (who died 20 years ago)
    5. Emma Smith

    What are your favorite scents?

Sawdust, baby powder, citrus, the smell of rain in the air, coming home from church on Fast Sunday and smelling supper in the crock pot, clothes dried on a clothesline, books, mimeographed papers (remember, the blue ones?), magic markers.

    What are your favorite games?

Phase 10 dice, Strategy, Uno, Rummikube.

Okay, your turn. I tag anyone who is reading this! Remember, I want to know all about you!
