Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until Heaven.  But for those who embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they come.

Jeffrey R. Holland

Only God can turn a mess into a message, a test into a testimony, a trial into a triumph, a victim into a victory.

Grace is defined as the Lord’s enabling power, and with the power of His grace, not only can we find contentment, but we can be at peace, and we can be kind and loving and patient beyond our natural abilities because we can “always have His spirit to be with [us].”

An eternal perspective makes every problem temporary, no matter how permanent it may seem right now.  And access to this divine perspective is available only from God.

A shipbuilding company had this statement in its advertisement: “All our timber comes from the north side of the mountain.”

Why the north side? What does that have to do with timber? After investigation, I found out that the best timber grows on the north side of the mountain because of the rigors of Mother Nature. The snow is deeper, the cold is colder, the wind is stiffer, and the sun is not so warm as the south side of the mountain. The harshness of the weather is a contributing factor to the toughness of the timber.

Human character is not much different from timber. Often the best in personality grows on the “north side of the mountain.” We grumble about our hardships and difficulties, yet those difficulties help us to grow and become mature. Each of us can look at our lives and see that the times when we made the greatest personal progress were probably when we were living on the ‘north side of the mountain.’

Children are a handful, while teenagers are a heartful.

I never thought I could cry so much in life, as I have over the last 4 years.  And I still have 3 more children to get through the teenage years.
