Today is my 39th birthday.  I’m not telling you this to get attention.  I am telling you this because it marks an even more important occasion.  I was married on June 19, 1992, which just happened to be my half birthday. I was 19 1/2. Today I have been married for exactly as long as I was single.

It seems so surreal.  The first 19 1/2 years went by so slow.  The last 19 1/2 years have gone by in a flash.  And the fact that I have 4 children, including an 18 year old son, just blows my mind.

My husband is my best friend.  We were friends first and love grew from that.  It grew quickly (we dated for 3 1/2 weeks before we were engaged), but we were friends before we started to date.  And that friendship has only deepened over the years.

I’m not saying we haven’t had our differences.  We usually have one pretty big argument every year, and many small ones.  But we stick it out and don’t give up.  When he was out of work and depressed, there were days that I really thought we weren’t going to make it because I couldn’t stand to be around him.

But because we have been sealed in the temple, we have added incentive to stay together.  We are together for all of eternity.  Not just ‘til death do you part, but for time and for all eternity.  It’s a wonderful thing.  We have each other forever.

So tomorrow starts a new phase in my life.  I will have been in my husband’s house longer than I was in my parents’ house.  Weird.

60 is how many people I have in my birthday/anniversary calendar.  I love my calendar.  It took me quite a while to make, but I absolutely LOVE it!

I bought a Rolodex and glued cute paper on the cards and embellished them, then put on names with dates and pictures of people.  I did not post any of the pictures, but if you look at the card, you can see the circle with their names. Next to that, on the other pattern of paper, I printed their pictures in black and white and then punched them out in a square.

All the girls I put flowers down on the bottom right, and all the boys I put a button on the top left.

I also made month dividers.

I also have quite a few blanks so I can add to it as more people join our families.

This is what it looks like from the side.  There are a lot of cards there, but it is so fun.

I am 37 years old.  I will be 38 next month.

When I look in the mirror, it shocks me. I see an overweight woman who is starting to get wrinkles.  Surely, that can’t be me.

I feel like I am still 19, the age I was when I got married.  That is the age that I hope to be when I am resurrected!

For Christmas, I got a beautiful set of square dishes. Navy and burgundy. They are so pretty! And square glasses (real glass glasses...I haven't had glass glasses for...I can't remember the last time I had glass glasses!). I am really excited to use them. But...I can't use them until Sunday.

Why, you ask?

I'll tell you why, but we have to go back 5 years.

December 2004. The Princess was 4 months old and I was feeling slightly overwhelmed. My birthday is December 19th. For my birthday, my sister gave me paper plates and bowls, plastic cups and silverware. She said she wanted me to have a break from doing dishes for a couple of weeks. My initial reaction was, "Really?" But as I used them, I discovered the beauty of the gift. I didn't have to do dishes! I didn't have to get mad at the kids for not doing them right. I didn't have to do anything. Just throw away. That Christmas break was so lovely!

This year I decided to do it again. It really didn't cost that much, and it gives both me and my children a break. I want to relax during Christmas break too. So we have 1 more day, and then Sunday, we get back to using dishes. And I am really excited because I then I get to use my new square dishes!
Why is 16 such a magical number?  Why can't they spread it out more?  Driving and dating?  Really?
Today The Teenager turned 16.  He has been waiting for this day ever since he understood why girls were cute and cars were cool.  Age 15 was nice for him because he got his learner's permit, but Mom and Dad still had to be in the car.  Well, not as of today.  I took him down to the DLD and he got his license.  He is a good driver, I am not worried about that.  I am worried about those little lapses in judgement that we all have (ahem, driving down Lancer Lane trying to catch air at the intersection of 3200 W.!).  I just hope and pray that Heavenly Father will send many angels to sit by his side and keep him from doing anything too stupid!
But it doesn't stop there!  In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we don't date until we are 16.  And so The Teenager has been anxiously awaiting this day.  And I have been dreading it.  Let's talk about lapses of judgement, well..., let's not.  I don't want to go there!  LOL
Anyway, Happy 16th Birthday to The Teenager.  And by the way, I am so NOT old enough to have a 16 year old!  I swear I am still only 19!
Okay, The Doctor's birthday is this Saturday, April 11th. He is going to be 40!

I am going to have a surprise party for him at 6:00. Come and enjoy German chocolate cake (his favorite) and vanilla ice cream (his favorite).

If you need to respond or ask a question, call me. He reads the emails and will find out if you reply to this.

So Saturday at 6:00. Hopefully it will be nice so we can send the kids outside!
I was looking through my archives to find an old post when I discovered that today is my 1 year blogiversary! It totally doesn't feel like it's been a year.

So in honor of me sticking with this for an entire year, I am going to post my favorite blog post from each month. Enjoy!

March - I Love My Hubby I started out with a bang by posting once in February and once in March. Thank goodness I got better at this!

April - Pink I should post this every month, just to remind you (as if you could ever forget!).

May - The Poopie List I laugh and laugh and laugh every time I read this. I guess that is why I was blessed with 3 boys!

June - Natural Birth I still am grateful I did it my way. I loved giving birth.

July - Naps Still one of my favorite things to do!

August - Lice It felt so good to get this out in the open and say, "Yes, just because my child got lice doesn't mean we have a filthy home! Good people get it too!"

September - Awesome sisters I love my family. We are there for each other and still laugh at each other too. It's great!

October - My Schedule I thought typing it up would be easy. I had no idea how busy I was. And how much busier I would get!

November - Snow It's days like this that get me through the rest of them!

December - Nutcracker Who knew my brother and his wife were so talented? I love watching this.

January 2009 - Things That Make Me Laugh Who knew I would own not one, but two blogs!

February - Self Esteem I was feeling so down and so many people commented and really helped lift my spirits. I am so grateful to all of them!

So here's to another year of random babbling!
So my husband turns 40 in April.

He hates parties, he hates surprises, and he hates celebrating his birthday.

So I thought I would have a big surprise party for him! LOL

Put April 11th, a Saturday night...which is his actual birthday, on your calendars. And keep it a secret.

Now I just have to figure out how to get him out of the house. Any ideas?
Thanks for being such a great example to my sons. And daughter. And my husband. And me.

We love you.
