So I decided to exercise this morning, right after we finished our scripture reading.  The Artist is getting ready for school then, but I figured I can still yell at him while I am working out.  I did The Biggest Loser Boot Camp.  I love that it has 3 levels, but I can customize it.  I did just the level 1 today, and I was dying.  But I made it through (along with The Princess and The Chocoholic! They were so cute!).

But that is not why I am blogging about it.

Usually when 1pm hits, I am a zombie.  I am so tired, I can’t keep my eyes open.  I try to sit down and work, but I am fighting the sleepies the whole time.  Usually I lose the battle and end up taking a nap.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my naps!  But I would like to be able to work while all the kids are at school so I can focus on them when they get home from work.

Well, today, I worked all afternoon.  I don’t recall yawning once.  I remember reading a friend’s blog (Hi Kristen!) about how she never needed naps after she lost weight and I thought, “How sad!”  LOL  Now I am thinking it’s not so bad.  I can get so much more work done, and so much more scrapbooking done!  I am psyched about the possibilities!

So I am going to keep trying.  I know there will be days that I will fail.  I just have to tell myself to keep trying and make it a habit.  Wish me luck!

Today is a vacation day.  After we went and rescued my sister who was broken down on the freeway, I had all afternoon to do whatever I wanted because I worked for 4 1/2 hours on Saturday.
The following was on my list that I could choose from:
  • Clean (bwah-hah-hah-hah!)
  • Scrapbook
  • Print pictures for frames
  • Finish painting said frames
  • Play games with my kids
  • Cook a delicious supper
  • Prepare the lesson for Family Home Evening
  • Re-organize my files and put labels on all the files
  • Work more
  • Return the movie we rented Saturday night
  • Take a nap
Anyone want to guess what I chose to do?  Here's a clue.

Best 3 hours I ever spent!
So I was asked what I do in my secret quiet time when the kids are all gone to school.

Sigh

I work. I am very blessed to be able to work at home, but that means that I am working when the kids are gone so when they are home, I can give them attention.

I love my job. I don't love working, but I love what I do. I cannot imagine having to work at a job that I hate. I have a hard enough time leaving for work! When I get there, I enjoy what I do and I am happy. Next year will be easier because The Princess will be in kindergarten and I won't have to get a babysitter. I am really looking forward to that.

When I work at home and The Princess is here, she has learned to entertain herself because I can't play with her. I just can't. Work has to be done. My clients aren't going to understand that they didn't get their payroll because I was playing Barbie's!

So on Monday's, my sil watches The Princess. She has a little girl that is only 1 1/2 months younger that The Princess, so they play together. They have their moments, but they do well together. I drop her off at 8:15 and pick her up at 2:30.

Tuesdays' she is in preschool in the morning, so I work here while she is gone. We have lunch, then she goes down for a nap while I work some more.

Wednesday my sil brings her daughter here and I watch them while I work.

Thursday and Friday is preschool, so same schedule as Tuesday. However, I try to have my work for the week done on Thursday so I can play on Friday. That doesn't always happen, though.

All in all, it is a pretty good schedule. Except in the afternoons I get really sleepy! I sometimes end up taking a nap instead. Have I mentioned how much I love naps? LOL

So there you go. More info than anyone wanted to know.
I love, love, love to take naps.

When the kids are home for the summer, after lunch is quiet time. The Princess goes down for her nap, and the boys have to read for an hour in their bedrooms. I will go up and crawl into my bed, pull the covers and zonk out for about 2 hours. I wake up so refreshed and ready to finish the rest of the day. And the kids know that they had better not wake me up, because a cranky mama makes for a miserable afternoon!

When they are in school, I take my naps on the couch so that when The Princess wakes up, I will wake up as well. So they aren't quite as long as summer naps, but still refreshing.

Winter naps are the best. We get the afternoon sun in our family room, which sucks in the summer, but in the winter, after lunch, the sun is coming through the windows and makes it so cozy. I snuggle on the couch with a soft blanket and zonk out.

Sunday afternoon naps...ah, I love them! I lay on the couch in my front room and the house is quiet and church music is playing. It feels like heaven! Church at 1:00 really sucks because I don't get a nap. But church at 11:00 is the best because I can sleep in and still get a nap after church!
Last year when I was working afternoons, I really struggled because I never got to nap. Working in an office where it is quiet and trying to do taxes is not condusive to staying awake!
And napping outside, on a blanket in the shade, with a cool breeze blowing? Pure Ecstasy!

Do you like to nap? Where is your favorite spot?
