I am thankful for crafts. I love making things to decorate my house, or to give away, or for scrapbooks. It makes me feel good about myself, and when I walk by, I can say, “I made that!” I am thankful that my husband supports my crafting and encourages it, even when I am spray painting real pumpkins!

A friend of mine made this and showed it off at a Pinterest party. (If you don’t know what Pinterest is, have you been living under a rock?) I thought it was a great idea! Halloween night, while my boys were watching “Arachnophobia,” I decided to make one. I already had a picture frame ready, I just used some cute ribbon I had lying around and used a staple gun to attach it. I absolutely love how it turned out!
I have read several blogs where they are going to list something they are thankful for everyday in November. What a great idea! I have done NaBloPoMo for several years. It’s fun, but exhausting to blog every single day. But telling you all what I am thankful for? I can do that!
November 1 – I am thankful for Pinterest. It is an amazing website, and I have gleaned many great ideas from it, including the earring holder and the painted pumpkins that I already blogged about. I am thankful for the people who pin clean, uplifting, helpful, funny, and interesting things that have improved my life.
I have fallen in love with Pinterest! And I love decorating for Halloween. When I saw these cute pumpkins, I knew I couldn’t resist. So I bought pumpkins, spray paint, and ribbons and went to town. Tom thought I was insane, but I absolutely love how they turned out!
I don't believe in a lot of things, but I do believe in duct tape.

Remember my post about the snowmen? Here is what The Chocoholic and The Princess did on April Fools Day (and all the snow was the cruelest joke of all!).
This winter The Chocoholic and The Princess made some snowmen. I was at work while they were at home, so they made the snowmen by the sidewalk so they could welcome me home. And then stupid teenagers knocked them down. They were so upset! I told them to make new ones in the backyard and then we would paint them.
To paint your snowmen, just buy some cheap spray bottles, fill with water and then put a couple drops of food coloring in. You can make a bunch of different colors for really cheap. The colors will fade off the snowmen over time, so keep the colors so they can be refreshed!
The kids also made baby snowmen. See what I mean about the fading?
They found a plastic sack in the backyard, so they made “Crystal” with her long hair!
As the snowmen melted, they started leaning, and eventually some fell over. The Princess decided it would be funny to spray them with red so it looked like they were bleeding. Yes, I’m so proud. But it was really cute!
They had so much fun doing this and it was a very inexpensive activity. And with it being in the backyard, they stayed up for a very long time!

I have wanted cute containers for my laundry soap for several years. I have looked and looked and just never found anything that really hit me.
Last week, The Doctor and I were at Wal-Mart and we were just wandering the aisles and he found some cute garbage cans. He is so good about thinking out of the box.
I bought them, and then used vinyl to decorate them, and here is how they turned out:

I got this idea off a blog, and now I can't remember where. Basically you make sugar cookie dough, divide it and color each part a different color. Take a small section from each color, put together to make a ball, roll it out like a snake, then roll it up. I put sucker sticks in them, but you could even just leave them without it.
Make your colors really bold because when they bake, then will soften. I was so excited with how bright these were, and then when they came out of the oven...
They were much lighter. But the kids loved them anyway. Oh, and let them sit for a while before you pick them with the stick, otherwise the stick falls right out! We learned that one the hard way!
When I make bread, I will let the kids make their own mini loaves and sometimes I will let them color their bread. They have so much fun with it, and they make really cool sandwiches!

The Princess is now taking after her brothers. She got these boxes, took a pair of scissors, and made an ice cream stand. It was small, but she did it all on her own! She was so proud!
That was the best ice cream I have ever had!

I saw these posted on Pioneer Woman's website, and on Bakerella's site. I thought they looked so cute that I wanted to try them.
You start with cooked cake. Let it cool and then crumble it up into a bowl. Dump in almost an entire tub of frosting and mix it all together. Form them into balls and put them in the fridge for a couple hours to chill. Melt white chocolate. Put popsicle sticks into the cake ball so it becomes a sucker. Dip into the white chocolate and let it harden. I used chocolate cake, but you should try white. I think it would coat better. I needed 3 coats to cover the brown completely.
Then go crazy and decorate. I was so tired by this time, that I had no motivation. I did about 6 of each and then quit. But the ones I did were really cute. You should go to their websites and see the professional ones. They are much cuter.

I doubt I will ever make them again because I don't like cake in the first place. But come Christmas time, I think I might try to make them with my Oreo Truffles. I just need to figure out how to make a Santa Claus.

Well, I don't have any babies and there are none on the horizon for anyone in my family, but I thought it would be fun to make a twin size quilt for The Princess. Well, my thinking is that if I am going to make one, it can't be that much harder to make 4.

I spent so many hours working on these. I had to cut out all the squares (80 squares for each quilt - 8 across and 10 down), and then I sewed two together with an X, and then I sewed them together. And then I had to clip all the seams. Hours and hours and hours.
When the kids asked who they were for, I told them they were for people in the ward. Well, they are people and they are in the ward!
I loved how they turned out, until I washed them. The light blue and the pink didn't bleed, and the dark blue only bled a little bit, but the red bled badly, and the white is pink. I was sick, but The Doctor kept telling me they looked great, and the kids all love them.
I am just glad they are done! And they do look really good.

I made these for Primary. I hate choosing kids for helpers because if I do it on my own, I will always pick my favorites (yes, I have favorites, but I will never tell who they are!). This is the fairest way I have found. I have all the children's names on the sticks, even the inactive ones.
I draw them from the "Choose Me" container. Then their stick gets put into the "Chosen" container. If they aren't there, their stick still gets put in the "Chosen." When every stick has been chosen, they all go back into "Choose Me" and we start over.
Everyone knows they are going to get a turn, so I don't have any problems. The younger ones struggle at the beginning, but they learn that they will get a turn. It is wonderful.
So I have been working on making 4 rag quilts for some people in the ward (*wink, wink). I have them all sewed and now I have to do all the clipping. I bought the special rag quilt scissors and those are going to save my hands. However, when I did the first one, I did it on Friday while sitting on my bed...hunched over...for 3 1/2 hours.
I am in so much pain now. My lower back is killing me. I took 2 ibuprophin yesterday, and they didn't touch the pain. This morning I took 4. They didn't touch the pain. It didn't help that I had to get dressed in nylons and wear high heels for 4 1/2 hours while at church and dancing around trying to get the kids to sing!
So I just took a Percocet and I am really hoping that will help. Plus The Teenager is going to help The Doctor flip our mattress tonight in hopes that it will help. It's been a while since we did that...like 2 years. I know, I should be better about doing that.
So does anyone have a sure-fire way of helping back pain? Because I don't like it!
